Borderless Peer to Peer Language Exchange: Seeking Volunteers Now! Are You Interested?

The best way to learn a language is to talk with someone who speaks it every day. For high school and university students in Kampot, many from economically disadvantaged families, a real conversation with a native English speaker is rare, and it's worth more than any textbook.
We're looking for language partners to meet on Zoom with high school and university students at Chumkriel Language School for English conversation and tutoring. Anyone can volunteer, whether you're a high school student, a university student, or an adult, as long as you submit a police background check first. We pair students by level: high school students with high school students, university students with university students, and adult volunteers with either group. Talk about school, music, sports, and your plans, and help each other along the way. You'll probably pick up some Khmer too.
When it works:
Cambodian students go to school in either the morning or the afternoon, so we match you to their free time.
East Coast: early mornings, 5, 6, or 7 a.m.
West Coast: evenings, 6 or 7 p.m.
What you get: a record of your service hours, a friendship across the world, and a story worth telling on any college or job application.
Keeping everyone safe: every volunteer submits a police background check before their first session. All sessions are small groups on Zoom accounts we manage, supervised by a teacher at the school. For high school students, parents sign off on both sides.
